OFFICIAL NOTICE OF RACE: COMBINED HORTON TROPHY AND CONNETT BOWL RACE

Saturday, August 10th

Combined Horton Trophy & Connett Bowl Race @ Shinnecock Yacht Club

Start Time: 1:00 PM

Skipper's Meeting: 12:00 PM

Join us this upcoming Saturday, August 10th, for an exciting day of combined SS Class racing action and fun. This year, SYC will host the 78th consecutive Connett Bowl, raced in honor of the memory of Harold Connett, in our historic SS Class sailboat fleet, which many say is the oldest "one-design" sailboat raced in America today!

This Saturday, we’ll also be doubling our fun, sailing for the historic Horton Trophy with the SS Class Association, another historic award which represents the second of three total races to determine the world champion for the SS Class (the recently revived “3-Handled Mug”). The first race of the season was won by SYC Member Fred Scopinich and Crew Michael Boone, who claimed the Atwater Trophy earlier this season and leads the pack.

Please register for Race Day here and be sure to complete the SYC Waiver prior to Race Day.

Interested in sailing or crewing an SS boat on race day August 10? There is still time to join the fleet in the action and make history with us! Please contact Ian at (914) 907-0305 any time and we can help to locate available boats and assign teams. There is nothing quite like sailing an SS boat and we would be happy to accommodate anyone interested in crewing or sailing.

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: at least one sailor, skipper or crew, must be an active member of the SSCA to participate for the Horton Trophy. Please note all sailors must sign the SYC waiver prior to competing. The SYC waiver can be accessed at the registration site located above. Please register prior to the Skipper's meeting by completing the registration below SIGNING THE WAIVER. Please note that PFD’s (100% foam dependent) are required to be worn by all competitors competing at SYC and this is not at the discretion of the SYC Race Committee.

Volunteers for Race Committee are always welcomed. Please contact Ian Connett ianconnett@gmail.com if you are interested in participating in this race and/or in learning more about our legendary SS Class sailboats.
